Jaguar,
I'll google what you say but I'm not sure I understand your post. What does shxt stand for, btw ?
new to this and as a nonbeliever i would like to ask how many people lost their belief in a god after leaving the wts.
what opened your eyes?
what made the light get brighter?

PWP,
You can be witness of both can't you ? Honestly, whether it is His real name or not doesn't really matter to me, I took from the JWs that He is identified as the god of the Bible and his having a name makes sense. I still cling to that teaching, doesn't have to be wrong just because it comes from the WTS.
any of you remember what was exactly the first thing that crossed your eyeballs to lead you into doubting the wts?.
May have not been the first element but the following story definitely shook my confidence in the WTS : a former (DFed) JW, Evald VORSTEHER, was arrested by the gestapo in 1934 because they had found at his place pamphlets against Hitler. As they almalgamated him with JWs, that moved a leader of the german WTS branch, DOLLINGER, to write to the nazy authorities that JWs had nothing to do with that nut who had insulted the Fuehrer, and that JWs were law abiding germans and that NEVER had the WTS stood in the way of the regime. Eye opener.
anyway, i can't get "i'll go no more a-rovin'" out of my head.... .
mark well what i do say,.
- i'll go no more a ro -oovin' with you, fair maid!.
Oh yes, named in french The divine pattern of love. As far as I can remember (was already in the old paperback purple song book) the title has been translated word for word from English. I chose it for my wedding and always found it moving. Don't know if it is a JW urban legeng, it is said to have been composed by an imprisoned JW.

I'm a believer, in Jehovah at that, but I remain with this embarassing question : if jehovah doesn't give the WTS his approval, which seems to be the case, why then has He allowed that deceiving organisation to fool so many millions of honest hearted people, capitalizing on His name ?

It seems that she's had a small life so far (said that no man has ever kissed her), I do wish her a great career and plenty of satisfactions, as a compensation for what nature has failed to give her. You go, Suzan, show them now !
i was born in 1964, 50 years after 1914. even in my teens i was doing the sums.
i had a worse case scenario figured out - if the 1914 generation could apply to babies and even if they lived to be a 120, i would still only be about 70 years old after they'd all died!
i figured i was part of the first wave of 'jehovah's people' that really would live to see the new order - guaranteed!!
Although I was far from being convinced by their applying to themselves the modern fulfilment of prophecies, I was ready to give JWs a chance, in case Jehovah would have really been on their side, who could know, mainly because of the signs, like Blondie, and because Jehovah was, somehow, letting His name involved in the matter, so He couldn't let people be deceived by His "representatives" on earth. 1914 was in the wake of this reasoning. Now that I'm almost past the exit, I remain with the unanswered question about Jehovah having lost His way in this venture.
i wanted to make just a thread for this statement of mind control as it was very blatant .
in the may 15th witness only wt under the article "husbands, imitate christ's love !
" it states, " if you are a christian husband, remember that your wife is also your christian sister.
Those who say that the WTS divides families are clueless slanderers and have disregarded the F&DS 's admonition in the latest WT study article where it is conclusively stated (ยง 18) :
"To be included among the peaceable, we must actively promote peace. Peacemakers do not do anything that "separates those familiar with one another" (prov 16 : 28). As the peaceable we take positive steps to "pursue peace with all people" Heb 12 : 14."
And if anyone, when reading the above, is reminded the following passage " out of your own mouth I judge you, wicked slave" (Luke 19 : 22), he is just intent on bringing division in the congregation.
yes my father has passed on sunday.... all my family brothers, sister, in-laws are jws .
it is occasions like this that.
make me see why i and countless others are just faders .. not taking that bold step of disassociation .
Please accept my sincere condolences, Caliber. As a believer too, I must say that I still cling to the JW belief of resurrection and hope of a paradise earth (no spare religion to switch to, so far) and it has been a comfort to me when I lost my parents a few years ago. Whatever your situation, my thoughts are with you.
the wt society always made a big point about the anglo-american world power when i was growing up in the t. i don't know if they still do.
probably not.. couple this with the uk media very often going on about a special relationship between the two countries.
some journalists would often point out though that this may have been wishful thinking on the part of the smaller uk.. i was a fan of alistair cooke's 'letter from america' and he , being of an older uk birth background would also reinforce this impression i had that there was a difference between the bond between the us/uk that was different to other countries.. .
Damocles,
Please don't feel more embarrassed than most of us on here. If we didn't sawallow it, at least we remained mute or quiet about the fancy WTS historical analysis. I did it for about 30 years, sorry for that.
